Definite Integrals

Antidifferentiate, then subtract the endpoints.

Concept

The Fundamental Theorem

A definite integral is signed area under a curve, but you rarely compute area directly. Find an antiderivative F, then evaluate F(b) − F(a).

The power rule runs in reverse: raise the exponent by one and divide by the new exponent.

∫ₐᵇ x^n dx = [x^(n+1)/(n+1)]ₐᵇ
